For a brush-style tip, I've used the Pentel Pocket Brush Pen , a waterproof brush-tip pen with replacement cartridges. They come in many colors, and give a constant indelible line, similar to the classic Rapidograph pens. When I need to use waterproof ink for my line work, I like Micron Pens and brushpens. The pen comes with a piston converter insert, but if you don't have one of those, you can refill empty cartridges with the syringe. As with the water brushes, you can refill them with your favorite color. In the USA, you can buy refill cartridges in black and blue, but it's not easy to find brown or gray or other colors. I use a relatively inexpensive Waterman Phileas Fine Point Fountain Pen (top) for written notes. To identify which water brush is which, I paint the back end tips with acrylic (see lower left of photo above). I mix the gray myself, put it in an empty bottle, and mark the bottle. The others are filled with blue, black, brown, and gray. One is filled with water, which fills easily under a normal faucet by unscrewing the handle and squeezing the barrel. I normally carry between three and five water brushes. I recommend the ones with round tips, but you can also get them with a 12mm Flat Tip. I've tried several brands, but none seem as reliable as Niji Water Brushes. Refilling Water Brushes and Fountain Pens For time lapse, I use a GoPro HERO3 with a free time lapse program called "Time Lapse Assembler." I also use a Canon EOS Rebel T5i Digital SLR with a Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens. My workhorse video camera is the Canon VIXIA series camcorder, which is small and light and full-featured. If you want a really black ink in your fountain pen try Aurora Black or Noodlers Heart of Darkness. The reason to use a pigmented ink is the depth of color and saturation in the ink. That sounds like too much of a pain in the neck to me. I have heard people say that they use this Higgins ink in their fountain pen but I also know that they said that they flushed the pen out after ever use. You can look up reviews of those inks in the Ink Review forum to learn more about them. But I suspect you have to mind you p's and q's when you use even those inks. Sailor and Platinum both make nano-particle pigmented inks that have super tiny particles. There are pigmented inks that are made for fountain pens. Pigment particles will gum up the nib feed if you let them dry in the section. That means it contains particles of carbon black pigment which are solid particles in suspension. But!īut the important thing to note is that it "Features a carbon-black formula". (Shellac dissolves in alcohol) That is good. It is non-waterproof which means it is water soluble and does not contain Shellac.
